This International Women’s Day, we feature Rosemary Kwa, Founder of Pétale Tea and Tea Experience Director.
Q: Rosemary, every bloom from Pétale Tea feels symbolic. What does a blooming tea truly represent to you?
Rosemary:
To me, a blooming tea is more than something beautiful in a glass. It represents transformation. A flower doesn’t bloom instantly. It takes time, patience, the right environment. I see women the same way.
We go through seasons — uncertainty, growth, reinvention. When you watch a blooming tea unfurl, it’s a gentle reminder that growth is gradual… and that’s okay. That’s the heart of #LetYourselfBloom.
Q: Your brand supports Daughters of Tomorrow. Why was it important for you to embed a social cause into your business?
Rosemary:
Pétale Tea began as my own journey of courage — stepping out, taking risks, depleting my savings, rebuilding from uncertainty. Supporting Daughters of Tomorrow felt natural. Their mission empowers underserved women as they rebuild their lives — and that resonates deeply with me.
With every Classic Storytelling Tin sold, we donate SGD 3. It’s our way of saying: When one woman blooms, she creates space for another to bloom too. On International Women’s Day, this matters even more.
Q: You’ve spoken openly about financial setbacks in your early years. How did that shape you as a woman entrepreneur?
Rosemary:
When I moved out at 23, my savings — years of disciplined saving — disappeared within months. It was painful. But it taught me the difference between saving and financial planning.
Later, when I started Pétale Tea, I invested everything — not just money, but belief. I learnt to grow slowly, intentionally. To reinvest wisely. To think long-term. Courage isn’t loud. Sometimes it’s simply continuing when things feel uncertain.
Q: Many tea brands focus on heritage and flavour. Why did you choose to focus on ritual and mindfulness instead?
Rosemary:
Because we are tired. We live in a fast-paced world where we don’t even pause long enough to feel our emotions.
I once had a friend who was highly functioning as an entrepreneur, yet quietly struggling with depression. That conversation stayed with me.
Tea shouldn’t just be about caffeine or taste. It can be a ritual — a moment to reconnect with yourself.
When you watch the bloom open slowly in a clear pot, it invites you to slow down too.
Q: What does #LetYourselfBloom mean to you, especially on International Women’s Day?
Rosemary:
It means giving yourself permission. Permission to grow at your own pace, to start again, and to choose courage over comfort. #LetYourselfBloom is not about perfection. It’s about becoming.
And becoming is a lifelong process.
Q: What do you hope women feel when they receive a Pétale Tea tin?
Rosemary:

I’ve seen a young man buy “Gratitude” before returning to Indonesia after 15 years in Singapore — to thank the aunt who raised him.

Q: As a woman founder, what truth would you share with others on this journey?
Rosemary:
There will be moments when your savings feel insufficient.
When your confidence feels fragile.
When the market feels overwhelming.
But growth happens gradually — just like a tea bud unfurling.
Stay rooted.
Act with courage.
Love what you do.
Thrive together.
